Mychoua Vang

I am a student at UWM, studying Sociology in my last semester.  I will be graduating in December.  I began interning with HAFA for the semester, working with youth and NaoBee.  Favorite part about being able to lead youth is sharing my experiences and talking to them about their likes, dislikes and relating to them.  I am 25 but I feel like I’m 18 –I forget how old I am sometimes, because I’m just slowly starting to get interested in community.  Most important thing to me is being able to give back to the community –I grew up on 31st/Cherry, so this is an important area to me.  Something about me in which I want others to know is that I don’t like spicy food and I’m not that good in math, so the Asian stereotypes really don't exist!

Ken

The DFC keeps missing an opportunity for a photo with the awesome Ken, but he is a valuable asset to the DFC youth council.  This photo was the best we could do in the meanwhile.  He is both lively and helpful and has been spotted volunteering his incredible qeej instrument playing skills at very important community ceremonies and rituals.  Thanks Ken for a very fun photo!
