Our community within the 53208 zip code of the city of Milwaukee is a diverse cultural and social community of about 35,000 people.  While many homes maintain character, some neighborhoods hide potential qualities of that character and remain heavily distressed.  There are several factors affecting our community such as, but not limted to foreclosures, board-ups, vandalism, crime or other violence.

The businesses which service the area vary in trade and specialty, as well as do schools both public and private, or agencies servicing several needs and often collaborating for common purposes.  Those who remain here are majority renters although several vested owners have stayed beyond a few decades worth, as well as new buyers have become attracted to the area for potential of restoration, community building, and raising families, and work.

​Our boundaries do not capture the full extent of where our youth council members come from, as some also live outside of the zip code. Primarily throughout the 53208 zip code, our youth council currently is most actively engaged in the redeveloping neighborhoods of Washington Park, Walnut Hill, and Concordia.
